2017 Best practice books for GATE Electronics and communication-EC exam
In India everybody has a dream to do B.tech or M.tech or M.S in IIT’s or NIT’s or Top most universities, we work hard in +2 to crack JEE or AIEEE exam for B.tech admission in IIT’s or NIT’s, but its not possible to get admission to all students. so, one who didn’t get rank in JEE or AIEEE have decided to do at least M.Tech in those colleges,so we took admission in normal engineering colleges to get UG degree and we starts our preparation from the third year onwards for GATE which is the entrance exam for M.Tech admission in IIT’S, NIT’S, top universities. My GATE preparation was also started from 3rd year and I wrote this exam for 2 times and finally I got admission in NIT and I thanks a god to fulfil my dream. Here I want to share some objective books which useful for GATE exam.
Basic Electronics Interview Questions and answers asked by most companies
Electronics Graduates..Are you ready for interview?
Here is some useful stuff, where you can brush up the basics in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Q. What is engineering?
A. The application of science to the needs of humanity and a profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to use economically the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind.
Q. What is the difference between Electronics and Electrical?
A. Electronics work on DC and with a voltage range of -48vDC to +48vDC. If the electronic device is plugged into a standard wall outlet, there will be a transformer inside which will convert the AC voltage you are supplying to the required DC voltage needed by the device. Examples: Computer, radio, T.V, etc...
Electric devices use line voltage (120vAC, 240vAC, etc...). Electric devices can also be designed to operate on DC sources, but will be at DC voltages above 48v. Examples: are incandescent lights, heaters, fridge, stove, etc...
Q. What is Electronics?
A. The study and use of electrical devices that operate by controlling the flow of electrons or other electrically charged particles.
Q. What is Communication?
A. Communication means transferring a signal from the transmitter which passes through a medium then the output is obtained at the receiver. (or)communication says as transferring of message from one place to another place called communication.
Q. Define the terms.
A 1.Resistor: A resistor is an electrical component that limits or regulates the flow of electrical current in an electronic circuit.
2.Capacitor : A capacitor is a passive electronic component that stores energy in the form of an electrostatic field.
3.Diode: A diode is a semiconductor device with two terminals, typically allowing the flow of current in one direction only.
4.Transistor: A transistor is a semiconductor device that regulates current or voltage flow and acts as a switch or gate for electronic signals.
Q. What is microprocessor?
A. A microprocessor is a program controlled semi conductor device (IC), which fetches, decodes and execute instructions.
Q. What is microcontroller?
A. A microcontroller is a single chip that contains the processor (the CPU), non-volatile memory for the program (ROM or flash), volatile memory for input and output (RAM), a clock and an I/O control unit.
Q. What are the basic units of microprocessor?
A. The basic units or blocks of microprocessor are ALU, an array of registers and control unit.
Q. What is a bus?
A. Bus is a group of conducting lines that carries data, address and control signals.
Q. What is a signal?
A. a signal is an electric current or electromagnetic field used to convey data from one place to another.
Q. What is sampling?
A.The process of obtaining a set of samples from a continuous function of time x(t) is referred to as sampling.
Q. State sampling theorem.
A.It states that, while taking the samples of a continuous signal, it has to be taken care that the sampling rate is equal to or greater than twice the cut off frequency and the minimum sampling rate is known as the Nyquist rate.
Q. What is cut-off frequency?
A. The frequency at which the response is -3dB with respect to the maximum response.
Q. What is pass band?
A. Passband is the range of frequencies or wavelengths that can pass through a filter without being attenuated.
Q. What is the principle of microwave?
A. Microwave essentially means very short wave. The microwave frequency spectrum is usually taken to extend from 1GHZ to 30GHZ. The main reason why we have to go in for microwave frequency for communication is that lower frequency band are congested and demand for point to point communication continue to increase. The propagation of the microwave takes place in spacewave in view of high gain and directivity in the form of a bean and is similar to that of light.
Q. What is latch up?
A.Latch-up pertains to a failure mechanism wherein a parasitic thyristor (such as a parasitic silicon controlled rectifier, or SCR) is inadvertently created within a circuit, causing a high amount of current to continuously flow through it once it is accidentally triggered or turned on. Depending on the circuits involved, the amount of current flow produced by this mechanism can be large enough to result in permanent destruction of the device due to electrical overstress (EOS) .
Q.Why is NAND gate preferred over NOR gate for fabrication?
A.NAND is a better gate for design than NOR because at the transistor level the mobility of electrons is normally three times that of holes compared to NOR and thus the NAND is a faster gate.

Quantitative and reasoning aptitude Preparation steps for competitive exams

What is aptitude test?
Actually Aptitude consists of two parts 1. Quantitative Aptitude 2. Reasoning Aptitude and these Aptitude tests are used to determine the logical thinking, psychological and emotional quotient of the candidates and it help the recruiters to shortlist the candidates who have right skills towards the job. This test is useful to a candidate to show his skills and attitude as a professional. These Test consists of multiple objective questions, and some companies conduct this test online.
Preparation steps for aptitude test?
Actually in Aptitude test the time management is the main problem. To manage time we have to solve the problems quickly for that we need more practice. If you practice daily the speed, accuracy and time limit to solve a particular section will increase day by day.First step,You need to know basics of math's for that we should go back to our school days, read NCERT books of math’s from 7th to 10th class and note down the important formula in a separate note book. So,that its easy to refer those before the exam.
Second step,Now we need questions to practice for that we have a good basic book is R.S Agarwal Quantitative aptitude and Reasoning aptitude.Buy that book and Practice at least 2-3 hours per day till you get a job, first time you feel difficult to solve but if you practice more than 2 times then its becomes easy and you can solve any problem within a little time.
Third step, After completing the R.S Agarwal you will get full confidence on aptitude,But its not sufficient for CAT,MAT,GRE,TOEFL and some private companies.so,we need higher level aptitude for that a good book is How to prepare quantitative aptitude by Arun Sharma. This book becomes easy to you only after the completion of R.S.Agarwal.
Fourth step, practice daily a new type of questions for that use internet as source and also solve Sakuntla devi puzzles.
Fifth step, Before going to write any Competitive exam or Placement exam, you should solve the previous papers of the concerned company so that you will know what area we have to focus more.

Four M.Tech ECE specalizations most of the top ranked students are opting
Most of us know that, master degree candidate will earn more salary and also in companies they will give high preference to those candidates. so, many of us will try go for higher degrees like M.Tech,MBA,MCA,M.S after the completion of B.Tech/B.E degree. As I am an ECE student I can tell some M.tech specializations which has high preference in industries as well as career.
M.Tech Specializations for ECE high ranked students are opting:
1. Communication Systems: This specialization has more job opportunities in ece department, you can get a job in either top software or core or networking companies like Cisco,Intel, redpine, tejas Networks and so on... which has more chance to get any job.
Search for intel jobs
Search for intel jobs
2. Embedded systems and VLSI Systems: In this you can get opportunity in either embedded programming companies or VLSI companies,. If you have any interested in software field you can enter in to that also but you need to learn some programming languages like c,c++.Now a days there are so many VLSI based companies are there, so you can get job either on or off campus.
3. Signal Processing and Image processing: This is also one of the good branch in M.tech, if any company open recruitment in DSP profile then they will call us. Software field is the optional, any branch can eligible.
4. Computer Engineering: Some colleges take admissions to this
branch from ECE department also, but there are few number of seats. This
one provide high opportunities in software and IT field and Networking
field.
These are the four branches most of the top ranked students are opting during counseling time, here I am not saying that other branches have less opportunities they can also have good opportunity, but when compared to above four they have less in ece department.

Dominant Part of Communication System
Do you which component plays a key role in Communication System?
The answer is Antenna.
In the olden days, Antenna's were visible on all the devices which are used for Communication. With these technological changes are now hidden inside the communicating devices, but the purpose hasn't changed. For example, do you recollect our mobile phones that used to have an antenna on the top? Where are those antenna's in our smart phone?
They do exist in our smart phones, but reside inside the device in a small size.
The main purpose of an antenna is to establish communication between two or more devices through air as the medium. They convert the electrical power into radio waves, and vice versa. They are made up of good conducting metals like copper, iron, gold etc. It works as both transmitter and a receiver for any communicating device.
Antenna radiates the energy from the current as electromagnetic waves or radio waves. Radio waves carry signals through the air or through space at the speed of light with almost no transmission loss. Radio transmitters and receivers are used to convey signals in systems including broadcast (audio) radio, television, mobile telephones, Wi-Fi (WLAN) data networks, trunk lines and point-to-point communications links (telephone, data networks), satellite links, many remote controlled devices such as garage door openers, and wireless remote sensors, among many others. All these devices use antenna to perform the required functionalities.
Antenna are of the following types:
1.Omnidirectional or only weakly directional antennas which receive or radiate more or less in all directions. These are employed when the relative position of the other station is unknown or arbitrary. They are also used at lower frequencies where a directional antenna would be too large, or simply to cut costs in applications where a directional antenna isn't required.
2.Directional or beam antennas which are intended to preferentially radiate or receive in a particular direction or directional pattern.

Have you heard about Satellite Transponder?
Have you heard about Satellite Transponder?
Have you ever come across the term satellite transponder in your Satellite communications subject?
Actually it is nothing more than a frequency converter. As we know a satellite has an uplink frequency of 6 GHz and Downlink frequency of 4 GHz. Then the question is which device does all that ???
A transponder is a device which performs the function of frequency translation within the satellite. A satellite usually will have 12 transponders having 36 MHz of bandwidth each. So the total bandwidth of satellite is about 500 MHz. A satellite may be of many types depending upon the band of frequency it uses to communicate.
For C band satellite, 500 MHz bandwidth of satellite ranges from 5925 - 6425 MHz for uplink and 3700 - 4200 MHz for downlink.
For Ku band satellite, 500 MHz of bandwidth ranges from 14 - 14.5 GHz for uplink and 11.45 - 11.7 GHz for downlink.
